VOTD: Post-it note stop-motion animation

Posted in Funny, General with tags , , , , , , , , on Thursday, 11 June 2009 by Deems

Here’s a pretty cool looking stop-motion animation clip done with a guy at his desk with a deadline to meet. This whole process took 3 months of planning, 4 days of shooting and over 6000 post-it notes. Enjoy. [via zefrank]

This is my senior project at Savannah College of Art and Design. Where my idea comes from is that every time when I am busy, I feel that I am not fighting with my works, I am fighting with those post-it notes and deadline. I manipulating the post-it notes to do pixel-like stop motion and there are some interactions between real actor and post-its.

VOTD: Literal Music Videos

Posted in Funny, General with tags , , , , , , on Wednesday, 3 June 2009 by Deems

I’m sure you’ve seen one or two of these before, you know where you wish they sang about what was actually happening in the music video – especially A-Ha’s Take On Me literal video.

I found these other ones that I just had to share with you. I just watched the Bonnie Tyler Total Eclipse Of The Heart literal video and thoroughly enjoyed it – hope you do too. [via UtterInsanity]

Bonnie Tyler – Total Eclipse Of The Heart

A-Ha – Take On Me

Red Hot Chilli Peppers – Under The Bridge

Bill Idol – White Wedding

Rick Ashley – Never Gonna Give You Up

Starship – We Built This City

Slightly different – this video clip tries to depict the actual lyrics of the song – not what went on in the original music video.

A literal take on ‘Video Killed the Radio Star’, by the Buggles.

This was made for Leeds Student Television (ls:tv), and won a National Student Television Award (NaSTA) in 2007.

Also a little different – someone’s own rendition of James Blunt’s music video for Beautiful – classic!

The Fine Brothers

So, these two jews walk into a bar…

Benny and Rafi Fine are two brothers who seems to be taking the online world by storm with their witty comedies and parodies of movies and TV-Series. I don’t know what planet I’ve been on because I hadn’t heard of them until today – thanks S! [via Wired]

You’ve seen at least some of the TV Series, Lost, right? And everyone knows about Star Trek – check out this great parody skit with action-figure characters from Lost, Star Trek and a few cameo roles thrown in the mix – enjoy!

You can subscribe to their YouTube channel or follow them through their blog. I’m going to keep an eye on these guys.

Advertising: Nando’s stick to their guns

Posted in General with tags , , , , , , on Wednesday, 29 April 2009 by Deems

Not only do Nando’s provide great fast-food they also have a kick-ass marketing department, who don’t take crap from anyone, even if it ruffles a few feathers.

Not too long ago, just before our National elections, last week, Nando’s aired an advert about Change with a puppet called Julius, which got Julius Malema, leader of the ANC Youth League, hot under the collar, demanding they remove their advert or face millitant action!

Well, Nando’s met with Julius and agreed that they would change (blured out his face, altered his voice, and posted a message in the ticker at the bottom of the screen) their advert – below is the result – brilliant! [via Cherryflava

You can see the original advert at the bottom of this post.

Two unlikely friends with an unbreakable bond – an appropriate video for all of us, especially in South Africa, where we are at the eve of a new president. Thanks to Koukla for sharing. You can read more about this on CBS.

VOTD: 21 accents

Posted in General with tags , , , , on Tuesday, 7 April 2009 by Deems

Came across this video of a very talented lady by the name of Amy Walker who very seemlessly and (by my count) very accurately does 21 different accents. Take alook and see, or rather listen, for yourself.

If you’d like to see more of her work and learn how to pronounce various accents yourself, take a look at her YouTube channel.

Below is an interview with the talented Miss Walker and how this all started.

Also interesting to note that she’s been so surprised at how popular her 21 accents video became that she’s starting a project called Connected by SoulFire Films. She’s emploring individuals like yourself out there (1 million of them) to donate $1 to the project and your name will be on the list of credits.

To show the world that our personal SoulFire is increased exponentially when we work together. Instead of relying on a corporate studio to fund this film, we’re inviting YOU to join in the filmmaking process for only $1.00.

As a SoulFire Global Community Member, Your Name will be shown in the credits of the film “Connected”.

Members can interact and follow our progress as “Connected” journeys from script to screen.

The Larger Goal: to create a web community where Everyone can realize their SoulFire Dreams. United, our firsts have a power beyond anything we can do alone. – source SoulFire website.

To find out more about Connected and SoulFire Films check out the SoulFire website or her YouTube channel.
